Morgenster
The historic Morgenster wine estate is located in the Stellenbosch wine-growing region. In 1708, the Huguenot Jacques Malan bought 200 hectares of land when Vergelegen was divided into four parts. He built a manor house and outbuildings. The microclimate, which is created by the cool sea breeze from False Bay and the protective mountains, ensures compact vines and better concentration.
In 1992, Guilio Betrand, a former Italian businessman, bought the vineyard. He discovered that the land was ideal for growing olive trees and red wine varieties. So he began to produce olive oil and red wines. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc are cultivated on the first-class vineyard.
