Deep purple red, cherry, dark berries, caramel and some cigar smoke on the nose. Intense on the palate with a full body and beautifully integrated tannins. A wonderful and fruity blend.

Stellenbosch
The region around the town of Stellenbosch is probably one of the best-known places in South Africa where wine is grown. It is located in the South African province of Western Cape, which borders both the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean.
Over 120 wine estates are located in Stellenbosch. They all benefit from the optimal climatic conditions required for top-quality winegrowing. The climate is Mediterranean, sunny and relatively dry in summer, but with sufficient rainfall in winter. The ocean within sight provides refreshing breezes and sufficient humidity, which are decisive factors for slow and harmonious fruit development, especially in midsummer. In the Bottelary area, which is considered the best red wine area in the region, fertile, stony granite soils ensure the top quality of the wines produced there. The foothills of the Simonsberg are also among the best red wine regions in the country. The summer days are long, there are cool breezes from the sea and the soil is excellent – red granite with a high clay content that retains water well. Some vines are planted on slate, which holds a lot of water in winter but dries out quickly in summer and therefore needs to be irrigated.

Stellenbosch is home to some of the most famous wine estates in South Africa. Traditional producers such as Aaldering, Asara, Babylon’s Peak, Bein, Graceland, Delheim, Kaapzicht, Kanonkop, Kleinood, Knorhoek, Meerlust, Morgenster, Quoin Rock, Van Ryn and Villiera are at home here.

Aaldering
In 2004, Marianne and Fons Aaldering founded the winery with 24 hectares in the Devon Valley. At that time, the entire vineyard was replanted. In 2012, the new winery, built according to the latest guidelines, was put into operation. Despite the rather new and small winery, Aaldering has since developed into one of the most renowned and best producers.
This is because the winery focuses on supplying high-quality wines to connoisseurs all over the world. That is why the owners continue to invest in their idea of producing the very best wines of the highest quality. Especially taking into account the special climate and soil conditions in Devon Valley near Stellenbosch.

The oenologist P.J. Geyer is responsible for the quality. His flair for the balance of finesse and elegance, coupled with power and fullness, is reflected in all his wines. The grapes are selected exclusively by hand. The red wines mature for 24 months in French barriques.
The soil is quite loamy and can therefore store water well. The vines therefore find sufficient moisture even during dry periods. Due to the cool breeze from False Bay in the afternoon, the grapes retain their moisture and elegance. This is essential for high quality. The very good quality of the tannins is also a characteristic of the Aaldering wines.
