Pale golden yellow, aromas of pears, apples, grapefruit and lime leaves as well as subtle notes of honey and vanilla. Elegant, with a beautiful balance of acidity, extremely fresh with a delicate mousse. Aged in the bottle for at least 30 months. A true reflection and interesting Brut Nature from the coolest wine region in South Africa.

Elgin
Together with the districts of Cape Agulhas, Overberg and Walker Bay, Elgin is part of South Africa’s Cape South Coast wine region. The district, which is about an hour away from Cape Town, is nestled in the ancient sandstone Hottentots Holland Mountains.
The district used to be famous as an apple-growing region. But today, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling are produced there due to the high altitude and cool climate.

Idun
The winery bears a mythological name: Idun comes from the Norse goddess of eternal life, fertility and apples. Idun brings the hope of new beginnings and the chance to create something that can be appreciated today and for generations to come.
Idun wines are among the world-famous “cool climate” wines from the Elgin region. These wines are delicate and elegant and age wonderfully due to their high acidity. This is partly due to the location at an altitude of 350 m and the slow maturation in a cool Mediterranean climate.

During a family trip through South Africa, the Rousset family discovered the magical Elgin Valley on the south-west coast. Fascinated by the region, they decided to pursue their passion for wine and create their own brand. The Rousset family was impressed by the quality of the wines and the potential of the region – and inspired by local winemaker Paul Wallace.
