Pale pink, strawberries and candy floss on the nose, accompanied by subtle undertones of herbs and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is light and refreshing, with a good acidity that carries the aromas and leaves you wanting more. 10% aromatic Sauvignon Blanc is added to the wine after fermentation to create the typical Provençal-style rosé of Kaapzicht.

Stellenbosch
The region around the town of Stellenbosch is probably one of the best-known places in South Africa where wine is grown. It is located in the South African province of Western Cape, which borders both the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean.
Over 120 wine estates are located in Stellenbosch. They all benefit from the optimal climatic conditions required for top-quality winegrowing. The climate is Mediterranean, sunny and relatively dry in summer, but with sufficient rainfall in winter. The ocean within sight provides refreshing breezes and sufficient humidity, which are decisive factors for slow and harmonious fruit development, especially in midsummer. In the Bottelary area, which is considered the best red wine area in the region, fertile, stony granite soils ensure the top quality of the wines produced there. The foothills of the Simonsberg are also among the best red wine regions in the country. The summer days are long, there are cool breezes from the sea and the soil is excellent – red granite with a high clay content that retains water well. Some vines are planted on slate, which holds a lot of water in winter but dries out quickly in summer and therefore needs to be irrigated.

Stellenbosch is home to some of the most famous wine estates in South Africa. Traditional producers such as Aaldering, Asara, Babylon’s Peak, Bein, Graceland, Delheim, Kaapzicht, Kanonkop, Kleinood, Knorhoek, Meerlust, Morgenster, Quoin Rock, Van Ryn and Villiera are at home here.

Kaapzicht
The Kaapzicht Estate is located in Bottelary. It is considered the best red wine region in Stellenbosch. The ideal climate and the fertile, stony granite soils are the basis for the top quality of these wines from South Africa. The flagship of the house, the Steytler Pinotage, is a good example of the quality of these wines: The 1998 vintage not only won the ABSA Pinotage Competition, but also the 2000 Wine Magazine Pinotage Competition.
Winemaker Danie Steytler runs the South African winery together with his brother George. He was one of the first to attach particular importance to this terroir in South Africa, which he also expressed in his wines. The vineyard of this friendly Steytler family covers 190 hectares, 162 of which are under vines. The farm was first mentioned in documents as “Friesland” in 1712. This was only a few years after the first vines were planted in the Cape region. The Steytler family acquired the traditional estate farm in 1946 and have managed it as owners ever since.

The winery takes its name from the view of Table Mountain and Table Bay. Since 1984, all wines have been bottled independently, now including Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, but also red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Pinotage.
All of Kaapzicht’s wines are characterized by a very honest and authentic style. The wines are worth more than their price. The Chenin Blanc Kliprug, for example, comes from the second oldest vineyard in South Africa, planted in 1947. The great wines from the Steytler line, which often win international awards, are among the best you can find.
