Saronsberg
The Saronsberg vineyard was founded in 2002 by Nick van Huysteen in the beautiful Tulbagh Valley. It consists of two agricultural parts, which were originally known as Welgegund and Waveren. As Waveren was already known as a brand name, it was decided to use the same name as the vineyards: Saronsberg.
Vines were planted in several stages until the current size of around 40 hectares was reached. The renowned winemaker Dewaldt Heyns had a decisive influence on the planting and the construction of the new, very modern wine cellar. He still shapes the wine style at the winery today. It is a combination of modern, full-bodied wines that are also extremely diverse and elegant. The great consistency of the high quality and longevity of these wines is also remarkable. In the meantime, the winery has developed into a real showcase winery thanks to the many honors and awards it has received. A visit to the winery is highly recommended. The wonderful landscape, the beautiful winery with its excellent wines and the owner’s art collection fully compensate for the slightly longer journey.
