In 2009, Sarah and Michael Thompson founded African Oils with a vision: to showcase South Africa’s exceptional natural oils to the world. What started as a small family business near Hermanus has developed into one of the leading producers of high-quality South African vegetable oils.
African Oils is focused on delivering premium oils to connoisseurs and enthusiasts around the world. That is why the owners continue to invest in their idea of producing the very best oils of the highest quality. Especially taking into account the special climate and soil conditions of the South African Fynbos region.
Master oil producer Johan Pretorius is responsible for the exceptional quality. His feel for the balance of purity and intensity, coupled with sustainability and authenticity, is reflected in all products. The plants are selected exclusively by hand. All oils are cold-pressed and bottled unfiltered to preserve their natural properties.
The soils of the Fynbos region are poor in nutrients but rich in minerals, which gives the plants their special intensity. The cool sea breeze from the Atlantic Ocean provides ideal growing conditions and preserves the natural aromas. This is essential for high quality. The exceptional purity and complex flavor profiles are hallmarks of African Oils products.
