Boplaas
The Boplaas wine estate is located around 450 km from Cape Town, in the province of Calitzdorp. The small picturesque village is surrounded by the Swartberg, Rooiberg and Kleinberg Mountains.
Carel Nel is the owner of the estate, Cape Wine Master, member of the Cape Winemaker’s Guild and cellar master on the estate since 1980. Together with his family, he runs the estate with great passion and success. Over the years, he has received countless awards and accolades for his brandies and wines.

The winery is a frontrunner when it comes to environmental protection. It owns an area of around 2230 hectares, which has been preserved as a nature reserve for more than 10 years.
The climate in Calitzdorp consists of cold winters with snow and warm summer days with cool breezes in the afternoon. In February, maximum temperatures of 23.7 degrees are reached. The climate is therefore similar to that of the Douro wine region in Portugal.
Our range includes the Cape Tawny, the Cape Vintage LBV Reserve 2016 and an excellent whisky from Boplaas.
