Franschhoek
Together with the districts of Cape Town, Darling, Paarl, Stellenbosch, Swartland, Tulbagh and Wellington, Franschhoek belongs to the South African wine region of Coastal Region. The name is Afrikaans and means “French corner” and dates back to 1688. At that time, around 200 Frenchmen settled in this valley.
The district, which is around 60 km from Cape Town, is one of the most important wine-growing regions in South Africa. Excellent Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon are produced here.

At Savinis you will find the best producers from the Franschhoek region such as Boschendal or Haute Cabrière / Pierre Jourdan. The Haute Cabrière wine estate can look back on a long wine-growing history. In 1694, the land, which is located on the banks of the Franschhoek River, was handed over to the Huguenot Pierre Jourdan.
