Haute Cabrière
The Haute Cabrière wine estate can look back on an extremely long history and tradition in viticulture: The land, situated on the banks of the Franschhoek River, was given to the Huguenot Pierre Jourdan on 22.12.1694. The vineyards face west on the rocky foothills of the Franschhoek Pass – in the heart of South Africa’s Franschhoek wine region. The well-known and up-and-coming wine estate Boschendal is also located there.
Achim von Arnim bought the estate in 1982, having previously worked successfully at Le Bonheur, Bergkelder and Boschendal and studied viticulture in Germany. His credo: wine is not made – it grows and therefore pays particular attention to the senses and the soil. In 2013, Tukuan von Arnim took over the winery from his father.

With around 10,000 vines per hectare, Haute Cabrière is known for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. However, the excellent sparkling wines are also famous and award-winning. These are produced strictly according to the Champagne method in the Blanc de Blanc version (exclusively Chardonnay) or as Cuvée Brut (also with Pinot Noir). The various sparkling wines are sold under the “Pierre Jourdan” brand.
