Meerlust

The Meerlust wine estate is located on the banks of the Eerste River in the Stellenbosch wine-growing region. The German Henning Hussing founded this wine estate back in 1693. In the same year, he also built the Cape Dutch manor house, which is still standing today. The Myburgh family has now owned the wine estate since 1756 – now in its eighth generation.

Tim Truter is the current winemaker and has been ensuring a consistently high standard in the old world style ever since. On the 160 hectares of land, the soil consists of weathered granite and the climate is cool. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are cultivated on the Meerlust vineyard.

All wines are matured in French barriques. The Meerlust Rubicon matures for 24 months in small barrels and thus achieves a shelf life of up to 20 years.
