Oude Molen
Oude Molen is one of South Africa’s most renowned brandy producers and has stood for the highest level of craftsmanship and quality for over a century. The company was founded by René Santhagens, a French distiller who brought traditional cognac production to the Cape. His philosophy: brandy should be produced with the same care, dedication and patience as the finest cognac.
The distillery is located in the Elgin Valley – a cool, fertile growing area that offers ideal conditions for the production of high-quality base wines. Only selected grapes are used, which are distilled twice in copper stills according to the French model. The subsequent maturation takes place in oak barrels over many years, which gives the brandy depth, complexity and an exceptionally smooth character.
Classics such as the XO Gold, which matures for at least ten years, or the VSOP, which combines elegance with a spicy vanilla note, are particularly appreciated. Oude Molen combines South African terroir with European distilling skills – the result is brandy specialties of international standing.
