Van Ryn’s is one of the most traditional and renowned distilleries in South Africa. Founded in 1845 on the banks of the Eerste River in Stellenbosch, the company can look back on over 175 years of craftsmanship and experience in brandy production. Today, Van Ryn’s is regarded as the epitome of South African premium brandy and has already received several international awards – including the title of “World’s Best Brandy”.
The historic winery with its Victorian architecture and old copper still is not only a place of production, but also a living monument to South African spirits culture. The production follows classic cognac methods: double distillation in hand-hammered pot stills, careful maturation in small French oak barrels and a precise blending of the individual components by experienced master blenders.
Van Ryn’s brandies are characterized by exceptional softness, depth and aromatic complexity. Notes of dried fruit, vanilla, toasted wood and sweet spice combine to create a velvety, long-lasting taste experience. The 12-, 15- and 20-year-old brandies in particular are regarded as prime examples of South African distilling art.
