Wellington
The Wellington wine region is located around 75 km north-east of Cape Town, at the foot of the Groenberg massif, nestled between the foothills of the Limietberg and Hawequas mountains. The warm, sunny climate is tempered by cooling winds from the surrounding mountains and night-time cooling, which favors excellent ripening of the grapes. The soils are varied – from sandy loam to granite weathering and slate – which allows the winegrowers a wide range of styles.
Wellington is considered one of the most important regions in South Africa for vine propagation. Many of the vines grown in the country have their origins here. In addition to this role as the “cradle of viticulture”, Wellington has also established itself as a quality wine region, particularly for red wines made from Shiraz, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. White wines from Chenin Blanc and Viognier also impress with their purity and structure.

At Savinis you will find excellent wines from renowned Wellington producers such as Bosman Family Vineyards, Diemersfontein and Doolhof. Bosman combines over 200 years of winemaking tradition with sustainable cultivation and social commitment. Diemersfontein is particularly known for its distinctive “Coffee-Chocolate Pinotage”, which has attracted international attention. Doolhof, on the other hand, delights with elegant, terroir-driven wines in a breathtaking location.
